Adventure Briefings
Safety Briefings are always given regarding the location, equipment and paddling skills. What and what not to do. We show you how to paddle the equipment you choose in your group. Whether you come with us or just rent the equipment to make sure you and your group are happy and have a great time.
We do expect our groups to listen to our instructions and behave themselves failure to do so may result in termination of hire or Pub Paddle without refund.
Age
3 years old is our minimum age. 3 – 7yr olds can sit with their parents in our shared boats (Double kayaks, 4 seat canoes) or Mega board.
For all bookings we do need an 18-year-old to be with all groups.
We do expect our groups to listen to our instructions and behave themselves failure to do so may result in termination of hire or Pub Paddle without refund.
Buoyancy aids and Clothing
Buoyancy aids are provided to everyone that books with us, our ranges are Small – XXL.
We do recommend summery clothes (shorts and t shirt) when paddling, however you’re welcome to wear anything we do often have stag / Hen groups who wear Fancy dress!!
You can honestly wear what you like!! And bring or carry what you like!!
It is just recommended you bring another layer of clothing should it be a wet or windy day.
Footwear is recommended to bring with you / wear when coming out with us as you can walk on all kinds of terrain. E.g. tarmac, gravel and stones.
Booking sessions
It’s always worth booking in advance as we do get booked up, quite in advance by some large bookings for our main daily slot.
Cancellation Policy
We do not cancel our paddles; every day is a paddle day. As we work on a still water Canal, weather is not a problem for us. Unless there is a severe weather warning then we shall postpone or cancel.
Daily Social Pub Paddle Distance
It’s approximately 1 mile paddle / 30 minutes of paddling to the Turf pub from the Carpark and from the Quay public slipway to Double Locks.
Dry Bags
Dry Bags are given out to groups so that you can store non waterproof things when on the water. We do have a bunch so you’re welcome to have a couple if you have a large group.
Dogs
Dogs are very welcome, it’s important to Never tie them to the boat! Make sure you request a big enough craft for the size of dog you have.
Equipment
Any damages or losses that incur during the hire period, whether by your negligence or deliberate actions will be paid for by the hirer, in full, on your return.
Instructors
Our instructors have the Qualifications, insurance and experience to instruct and lead groups. Before each season starts, we have the instructors obtain the British Canoeing: Paddling Safety and Rescue Training course.
Money
We take cash on the day as well as bacs and contactless.
Parking
Parking up at the Turf carpark is not the best when you want to meet us there or convoy behind Sam’s Bus. It is a free car park with limited spaces plus waste land to park off the road. If you want to meet us at the Exeter Quay there are large car parks close by to paddle down to the Double Locks or do the whole canal and get taken back to your cars with the minibus.
Photography
We do like to take a lot of photos and videos and use it for designing and marketing, please inform us if you would like us to not take photos/ videos of your face or group.
Pubs
We have worked well with the Exeter canal Pubs since launching Exe Adventures back in 2013. You can leave the equipment safely and tidy on their lawns and jetty’s.
Transport And Bus Lifts
We have a 17-seat minibus that holds 16 people, we have an operator’s licence, Tachograph and we do have regular maintenance checks. To make sure we are licenced, legal and safe on the road.
Sam has his D1 and CPC licence so he can drive for hire and reward. He has years of experience in driving from cars since he was 17, with Lorries as a side job having his Category C and CPC plus minibus driving in snow from previously doing a ski season in Verbier, Switzerland.
The minibus does have waterproof seat covers so that you can get in it dripping wet.
Dogs are very welcome in the minibus.
Snacks and drinks are welcome in the minibus, but should you leave a mess or lots of rubbish we may have to keep the deposit or charge extra for it be cleaned.
